About Our Area

Montrose is located about 160 nautical miles by air southwest of Denver in the most BEAUTIFUL part of Colorado! We are about 100 miles north of Durango over the famous Million Dollar Highway. Montrose is situated in the Uncompahgre Valley at an elevation of 5,784 feet.  The city looks south at the magnificent San Juan Mountains, north to the Grand Mesa, east to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and then west to the Uncompahgre Plateau.

It is a vibrant community with a population of about 13,000 with strong ties to ranching and farming. The expanding economy and community vision have lead to a newly remodeled full-service hospital; a beautiful pavilion and convention center; a new library; and an excellent school system. Many unique homes are located in and outside the city limits.  The primary focus for our economic development is a healthy and growing business community. Montrose has an excellent workforce, higher education facilities, a modern airport, and several business/technology parks. Along with being a wonderful place to live and work, Montrose has an excellent quality of life for raising children or just plain relaxing. Home to an exceptional combination of people, Montrose offers every kind of activity… from symphonies to rodeos, and ballet to tractor pulls. Regardless of the State of national growth , Montrose continues to develop strong, consistent growth. There is every reason to believe that strong growth will continue to guide Montrose for many years into the future. Here is a map of Montrose.
